Radon Testing

Where does radon come from?

This is the radon life cycle before it enters a home.

Uranium is very prevalent in Midwest soil. This uranium eventually decays into a gas called radon. Radon produces harmful radioactive decay products (RDPs) that have a strong correlation to lung cancer.

Why should you care about radon?

This image has a chart that shows the prevalence of radon caused lung cancer.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer on the planet. Smoking while exposed to radon can dramatically increase your risk of lung cancer.

What are the steps for testing radon?

Radon is measured in units called picocuries. Federal and State laws mandate that remediation should be performed if radon is above 4 pCi/L.
